⚙️ Pharmacological Class

Third-generation cephalosporin antibiotic (β-lactam) with strong activity against both Gram-positive and Gram-negative organisms.

🧬 Mechanism of Action

Cefpodoxime acts by inhibiting bacterial cell-wall synthesis through high-affinity binding to penicillin-binding proteins.
This disrupts peptidoglycan cross-linking, leading to cell-wall rupture and bacterial death.
It demonstrates excellent oral bioavailability and stability against many β-lactamases.

📋 Dosage & Administration

• Adults: 100 mg every 12 hours (as directed by physician)

• Children: 5 mg/kg/day in two divided doses (adjust as per weight and severity)

• Take food after for optimal absorption.

• Disperse tablet in 10 – 15 mL of water before administration.
